Sometimes, when faced with today's frustrations, it's encouraging to realise just what has already been achieved. The following is not intended as a boast but as a reminder that when we work together we can make a big difference to our community.

Football
| In the summer of 2003 we held another successful 2-week Football Frenzy event. We were joined by coaches from Recreation & Play Services and from Lammack Juniors. It was so well attended that we were able to organise a mini-league, in which all the children were able to take part, and we gave out various trophies and awards. | |
| We won the BBC Community Club of the Year award for the area. | |
| Ahmed Hassan and Tiyra Slaam have continued to train the children on Saturday mornings. | |
| Rafiq Slaam, James Booth and Lee Seargensen now help to train the boys. | |
| Rafiq Slaam has completed his Sports Leader training. | |
| We have begun our own in-house training and award scheme in an attempt to keep the older youths involved and focused on giving something back to the community. | |
| On 12th June, RCA girls took part in the Wheel of Life Festival Tournament - and won!! | |
| We have been successful in our Neighbourhood Community Chest funding application for the extra equipment and the four coaches that we will need for this year's Football Frenzy. |
Badminton
The club (for ladies only) now runs for 2 hours every Tuesday morning. Around 30 ladies have been involved.
Training Opportunities

Outings
| There are now three people are now qualified minibus drivers, so that we can borrow local authority minibuses for Association events. | |
| On June 8th, a group of ladies from the badminton club went to Haslingden reservoir and enjoyed a walk and a picnic. |
Planning
| Traffic calming humps have been introduced into the area | |
| CCTV cameras, planters and bike stands have been installed on New Bank Road | |
| Railings have been installed outside the Post Office | |
| Parking bays are planned for New Bank Road to help reduce traffic congestion |
Community Beat Officers
| We now have Olivia Forshaw and Emma Turner operating in our area, supported by Anthony Walsh. | |
| Several police surgeries have taken place | |
| The Association has been consulted on several policing issues, and about the possibility of running a pilot scheme in this area. | |
| There has been good police response regarding speeding on Dukes Brow. |
Events
| A very successful barbecue was held in the playground at St. Silas school. It was good to see many people from the area involved in providing the food and entertainment. | |
| This year, the Association helped to run the Mayfair in conjunction with the Corporation Park Supporters Group and Sure Start. We continue to work with the CPS group and acknowledge the great work they do. |
Cleansing
| Twice over the last year, the Council has provided skips for use by residents. | |
| We continue to address cleansing issues with the Council on a regular basis and are very grateful to those members who put so much effort into this area. |
Meetings
| We are regularly represented at the Blackburn Over-50's Forum. | |
| We have had 2 meetings with Jack Straw over the last year. Many issues have been raised and residents feel that they are being addressed. | |
| RCA members have attended Community Forums where there has been opportunity to have a voice into town-wide issues. |
Miscellaneous
| We have introduced a Welcome Pack as a way of welcoming, and involving, new residents. | |
| The Association has funded the refilling of 20 hanging baskets which were placed in the community |
